Establishment of Mama Ngina Waterfront

Mama Ngina Drive Waterfront was on 20th October reopened after undergoing renovation. It is a 26-acre waterfront space designed to support a 24hour economy. Its layout includes the construction of a state-of-the-art amphitheater that can hold a capacity of 3000 people, the Kilindini Cultural Centre, ablution blocks, a new jetty for water taxis near the Likoni Channel crossing, and two exit and entry points marked by monumental gates, leading to the park’s other developments. The KSh 460 million modern recreational facility was commissioned for regeneration by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Governor Hassan Joho in January 2019. Suhufi Agencies, a local company, won the tender for construction of the waterfront and was given a 150 day deadline to complete the whole project. However, due to changes in design, completion was delayed.
