Training on Geospatial Technology (Remote Sensing and GIS) application for Sustainable Coastal Smart Cities: Call for Applications

The Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association (WIOMSA) in partnership with Macquarie University and Hexagon Geospatial are organizing a training workshop on the application of geospatial technology for sustainable and smart coastal cities. The training workshop is slated for Mombasa Kenya from the 2nd to the 7th December 2019. The workshop is organized with the financial support of the Government of Sweden through WIOMSA's Cities and Coasts Programme. The workshop is aiming at building the capacity on geospatial methods and tools available for planning and implementation of a smart and sustainable coastal cities agenda. The training is primarily tailored for practitioners within relevant national and local government departments and academics from the universities in the region. The main objectives of the training are the need for coastal city planning for urban settlements to move on from a conventional 'GIS Mapping' approach to a more advanced and comprehensive geospatial analysis and solution approaches.
